I read the first paragraph of The Shards then put it away because I could tell it was going to be an important book for me and I was a bit scared! I still haven't read it, but I will soon.
Have you listened to the Once Upon A Time At Bennington College podcast series? If not, then you should!
OMG no! I hadn't even heard of it, going to download the first episode now!
It feels like a really special, important book for me, too, and I haven't been able to articulate why yet. And I feel like it's worth both listening to AND reading.
It’s a fantastic book that feels almost like a satisfying ‘celebration’ of Ellis’ entire career. If it was his final book (hopefully not), it would be a fitting send-off.
It really did, didn't it? I think that's why I felt such an urge to read/reread EVERYTHING before writing about it. I'm definitely going to spend part of the autumn back in Bret Easton Ellis land.

Thank you for this recommendation. I have never read any of this author's books, but I will seek out Shards.
They have it at our library. Yay!
I would be interested to hear what you think of it!
